Dearest friends,
It's an exciting time for The Attachments! We have been asked to open
for a very cool and well known band, Dengue Fever, on Saturday January
3 at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. The show will actually be the
Rickshaw's 5th anniversary party, so it's going to be a super fun
night, and tickets are on sale for the low price of $8 (very cheap for
a Dengue Fever show). Since this one could easily sell out, it's
probably a good idea to buy advance tickets.
Doors will open at 9pm, we'll go on at 9:30 sharp, and it's all ages.
Also, just as exciting, we have qualified for the finals of the Noise
Pop competition on a website called Ourstage. If you have a free
moment, we'd be really grateful if you could follow the link below and
vote for our song, "I Wish I Could Always Be As Excited As I Am Now."
You might have to register to do this, and you have to listen to at
least 10 seconds of each song before you can judge, but it's actually
a cool way of listening to new music. The contest only runs to the end
of the month, so if you have a chance please follow this link:
http://www.ourstage.com/judge?channel=161-noise-pop. If we win we get
to play Noise Pop, the biggest indie music festival in San Francisco.
Thanks for all your support, and we really hope to see you next
Saturday at the Rickshaw!
Love,
The Attachments

Thank you to everyone who came to the Cafe Du Nord gig. We had no idea
it would be so crowded! We have only one more show this year because
we're trying to focus our energies on finishing our upcoming CD. But
what a show it is -- two of our favorite bands, an amazing location,
DJ Elise from Soma FM spinning between sets. It's all sponsored by The
Deli SF. And we've changed our set completely just for this show --
we'll be adding 4 brand news songs we've never played before! So we
hope to see you at the Rickshaw Stop on November 20th!

We've just put two brand new songs up on our Myspace and Facebook
sites -- so please check them out! They will both probably be on our
full-length CD that we'll be putting out at the beginning of next
year. The songs are called "I Wish I Could Always Be As Excited As I
Am Now" and the other "Southern California."

We've been receiving several messages recently asking why we haven't
been sending out as many emails as usual. The reason is that we've
been hiding ourselves away in our recording studio (also known as
Mark's parents' attic), working hard on our debut album. We're getting
close now, but until then we won't be playing as many shows as usual.
We have scheduled two very exciting gigs for the rest of the year,
though. On Sunday October 26th we will play for the first time ever at
Cafe Du Nord with our friends Music For Animals for The Toy Soldiers'
CD release. Then on Thursday November 20th we'll be playing a very
special indie pop show that we organized entirely by ourselves. It
will be at the Rickshaw Stop with The Ian Fays and The Hot Toddies,
and it will feature DJ sets by Elise from Indie Pop Rocks! at SomaFM.
Both of these shows will be sponsored and promoted by The Deli
Magazine, and we're really excited about them. So please mark your
calendars for those dates, and we can't wait to have our first record
done for you!

With the new academic year fast approaching, we have decided to play a
back-to-school show at Blakes in Berkeley this Sunday, and we'd love
for you to join us. We will be trying out some new songs, and we'll be
playing with a mystery bass player whose name will only be revealed a
few minutes before the show. (In fact none of us even know his name
yet but he plays amazingly well.)
Doors open at 7pm, we'll go on at 8:30 sharp, and the extremely
talented band Dizzy Balloon (formerly Panda) will play after us. It's
only $8, and the show is all ages, so even if you're over 21 you'll be
able to get in.

Come join us this Sunday afternoon as we play our annual Fourth of
July Weeked show at the Fort Gallery in Oakland. There will be a BBQ
at 4pm, we'll go on first at 5:30, and then 3 other great bands will
play. It'll be a really fun, low-key gig, so please join us. The Fort
Gallery is located at 3421 Hollis in Oakland and cover is only $5.

In recent weeks many of you have been emailing us to ask why it's been
so long since we've played a show. The answer is simple: we have been
saving up the rock for a gigantic explosion of our deepest soul
impulses, which you can witness if you come to Bottom of the Hill in
San Francisco next Thursday, May 15th. This will also be our last show
in the Bay for a while, so it's definitely the time to see us!
We go on first, at 8:30pm sharp, followed by two awesome bands
(including Social Studies, who we've been wanting to play with for
ages). It's only an $8 cover for one of the best venues in the city,
and it's sponsored by KALX. Can't wait to see you there!

Next week we'll be embarking on our first-ever West Coast tour, and
you can help us! We'll be playing shows in Sacramento, Seattle,
Portland, Olympia, and even crossing the border to Vancouver. If you
have friends in any of those places, please forward them this email,
or tell them to check out the dates on our myspace page,
www.myspace.com/attachments. Here are the shows:
March 24 - The High Dive, Seattle
March 25 - Ash Street Saloon, Portland
March 26 - The Artisans Cafe, Olympia
March 27 - The Astoria, Vancouver
March 28 - The Towne Lounge, Portland
March 31 - The Press Club, Sacramento
Then on Friday April 4th we'll be playing a homecoming show at Blakes
on Telegraph -- our first Berkeley show in ages. So please tell anyone
you know, and tell them to come introduce themselves to us, cause we
don't know anyone up there.

After a month of online battles on Ourstage, our song "Jenny" ended up
ranked #7 for Noise Pop 2008. You can now help us win the finals
stage! If you have a chance, please go to www.ourstage.com, and vote
on the Noise Pop 2008 channel. Our song is one of 20 that are being
considered for the finals. If we win we get to play at the biggest
music festival in San Francisco, taking place in February. Voting will
go on continuously until the end of this month -- quarter finals have
already started, semi finals start Jan 29, and finals start Jan 31.
Thanks!
Love,
The Attachments
